Create and Use Sender Profiles
Create and Use Sender Profiles
Purpose
Sender profiles are how SuperSend ties together your email mailboxes, LinkedIn account, and Twitter/X account into a single "person" that campaigns can send from. This article walks through creating a profile, attaching all your connected accounts, and assigning it to a campaign.
What Is a Sender Profile?
A sender profile is a named container that holds:
- Up to 1 LinkedIn account
- Up to 1 Twitter/X account
- Any number of email mailboxes
When a campaign is assigned to a profile, it uses the profile's email mailboxes for email steps, the profile's LinkedIn account for LinkedIn steps, and the profile's Twitter/X account for Twitter steps — all appearing to come from the same person.
For example: if you're doing outbound as "Sarah from Acme," Sarah's sender profile might contain 8 email mailboxes (for volume rotation), her LinkedIn, and her Twitter. Every campaign step surfaces as Sarah, regardless of which mailbox actually sends each email.
Prerequisites
Before creating a sender profile, you should have already:
- Connected at least one email mailbox (see Connect Gmail, Connect Outlook, or Connect SMTP)
- Connected a LinkedIn account if you plan to use LinkedIn steps (see Connect LinkedIn Account)
- Connected a Twitter/X account if you plan to use Twitter steps (see Connect Twitter/X Account)
You don't need all three to create a profile. An email-only profile is common and valid.
Create a Sender Profile
- In the left sidebar, click Senders.
- Click the Sender Profiles tab.
- Click Create Profile (top right).
- In the modal that appears, enter a Profile Name. Use something descriptive — typically the person's name and team, like "Curtis @ SuperSend" or "Outbound Mailbox Pool A."
- Click Save.
You'll see the profile appear in the table. It starts empty — no mailboxes, no social accounts yet.
Add Email Mailboxes to a Profile
- Click on the profile name to open the profile detail page.
- Click Add Mailboxes.
- A side modal shows all email mailboxes connected to your team. Select the ones you want this profile to send from.
- Click Add to attach them.
The profile now shows the number of mailboxes it contains. You can add or remove mailboxes at any time.
How email rotation works: When a campaign sends email steps from this profile, SuperSend distributes sends across all attached mailboxes according to each mailbox's daily limit. You do not choose which mailbox sends each email — that's automatic. This is intentional: spreading volume across many mailboxes protects deliverability.
Add LinkedIn to a Profile
- On the profile detail page, click the settings (gear) icon.
- The Sender Profile Settings modal opens. Click the Social Connections tab.
- Under LinkedIn, you'll see a search box. It shows all LinkedIn accounts your team has connected that aren't already attached to another profile.
- Find your LinkedIn account and click Connect.
- Click Save.
The LinkedIn account now shows as connected on the profile, with a green status indicator.
Important: A LinkedIn account can only be attached to one sender profile at a time. If you need to move it to a different profile, disconnect it from the current profile first.
If no accounts appear: Click Add LinkedIn Identity at the bottom of the LinkedIn section. This takes you to the Social tab on the Senders page where you can connect a new LinkedIn account (see Connect LinkedIn Account).
If a LinkedIn account shows as expired (red): The session has timed out. Click Reconnect on the account card to re-authenticate. This is expected periodically — LinkedIn sessions do expire.
Add Twitter/X to a Profile
- Follow the same steps as LinkedIn above, but use the X (Twitter) section in the Social Connections tab.
- Select an available Twitter/X account and click Connect.
Assign a Sender Profile to a Campaign
Once your profile is set up, connect it to a campaign:
- Open the campaign.
- Click Settings (gear icon in the campaign header).
- In the left sidebar of the settings page, click Senders.
- Use the sender profile dropdown to search for and select your profile.
- The profile appears as a card below the dropdown, showing its mailbox count, LinkedIn status, and Twitter/X status.
You can assign multiple sender profiles to the same campaign. If you do, SuperSend treats the combined pool of mailboxes and social accounts as the sending source.
To remove a profile from a campaign: Click the Remove Profile button on the profile card.
Rename or Delete a Sender Profile
- On the profile detail page, click the settings icon.
- On the General tab, edit the Name field.
- To delete the profile entirely, click Delete Sender Profile (bottom left of the modal). This does not delete the connected mailboxes or social accounts — they remain in your team and can be added to a different profile.
Sender Fallback Setting
On the General tab of profile settings, there's a toggle: Disabled Sender → Redirect to the Next Sender.
When this is on, if any mailbox or sender within the profile becomes disabled or inactive during a campaign, SuperSend automatically routes around it and continues sending from the remaining active senders. This prevents sequences from stalling because a single mailbox hits an error.
Expected Result
Your sender profile has mailboxes attached, optionally a LinkedIn and/or Twitter account, and it appears in the Senders tab of at least one campaign.
Troubleshooting
- Issue: I connected a LinkedIn account but it doesn't appear in the profile's Social Connections tab.
Fix: The account may already be attached to another profile. Go to Senders → Social tab and check the LinkedIn identity's current assignment.
- Issue: My sender profile shows 0 emails sent even though the campaign is running.
Fix: Check that the profile is assigned to the campaign in Settings → Senders, and that the attached mailboxes are active (Senders → Mailboxes tab).
