Connect a LinkedIn Account

Connect a LinkedIn Account

Purpose

Connecting a LinkedIn account to SuperSend lets you add LinkedIn touchpoints — profile visits, connection requests, messages, InMails — to your campaign sequences. This article walks through the full connection process, what to expect during authentication, and how LinkedIn accounts get used in campaigns.

How LinkedIn Works in SuperSend

LinkedIn accounts are connected as standalone identities first, then attached to a sender profile. The sender profile is what gets assigned to campaigns. So the flow is:

  1. Connect LinkedIn account (this article)
  2. Attach it to a sender profile (see Create and Use Sender Profiles)
  3. Use the sender profile in a campaign

You don't choose which LinkedIn account to use at the campaign step level — the campaign uses whichever account is connected to its assigned sender profile. This is intentional, because it ensures every email, LinkedIn message, and Twitter touchpoint in a campaign comes from the same persona.

Prerequisites

  • A LinkedIn account with valid credentials (email + password).
  • Your LinkedIn account must be set up with 2-factor authentication or app-based verification if LinkedIn has it enabled — SuperSend handles those flows in the wizard.

Connect a LinkedIn Account

  1. In the left sidebar, click Senders.
  2. Click Add Sender (top right).
  3. In the drawer that opens, click LinkedIn Account.
  4. Fill in the details:

  • Email Address — the email address you use to log into LinkedIn.
  • Password — your LinkedIn account password.
  • Country — select the country that matches where you normally log into LinkedIn. This is used to route your connection through a matching proxy location, which reduces the chance LinkedIn flags the login as suspicious. Wait a moment for the country list to load.
  • State / Region — appears after you select a country. Choose the region that best matches your usual login location.
  • Privacy — controls who on your team can see LinkedIn conversations in the SuperSend Super Inbox. Options:
    • Don't show my LinkedIn conversations in super inbox to anyone — keeps conversations private entirely.
    • Show LinkedIn conversations in super inbox only to me — visible to you but not teammates.
    • Show LinkedIn conversations in super inbox to everyone in the team — default setting, good for teams where multiple reps manage replies.

  1. Click Connect.

SuperSend now establishes a connection to your LinkedIn account via the executor service. A loading state appears while it authenticates. Depending on how LinkedIn responds, one of several things happens next:

What Happens After You Click Connect

LinkedIn's authentication flow varies account by account. Here's what you might see:

Immediate Success

If LinkedIn accepts the credentials without any additional verification, the drawer closes automatically and you'll see a toast notification: "Sender connected successfully!" Your LinkedIn account now appears in Senders → Social tab.

Email Verification Required

LinkedIn sends a 6-digit code to the email on your account. SuperSend shows a Verification Code step:

  1. Check the email inbox for the account you just connected.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code in the field (placeholder: 000000).
  3. Click Verify.

If the code is wrong, you'll see "Invalid verification code. Please try again." Try re-entering. If you don't receive the email, check spam, and confirm your LinkedIn account's verified email address.

Mobile App Approval Required

LinkedIn sometimes pushes an in-app approval request to your phone instead of sending a code. SuperSend shows a waiting screen:

  • Title: Check Your LinkedIn App
  • Instructions: Open the LinkedIn app on your phone → look for a sign-in notification → tap "Yes, it's me."

SuperSend automatically detects the approval and completes the connection. You don't need to click anything in SuperSend — just approve on your phone.

If you don't have the LinkedIn mobile app, go back and try connecting again. LinkedIn may fall back to sending an email code instead.

After Connecting

Once connected, the LinkedIn account appears in the Social tab of the Senders page. It shows the account name, username, and the proxy location it's routing through.

At this point the account is not yet attached to any campaign. To use it:

  1. Go to SendersSender Profiles tab.
  2. Open a sender profile (or create one).
  3. In the profile settings → Social Connections tab, find the LinkedIn account and click Connect.

See Create and Use Sender Profiles for the full walkthrough.

Re-Authenticating an Expired Account

LinkedIn sessions do expire over time. When this happens, the LinkedIn account in a sender profile will show a red card with the message: "Session expired. Re-authenticate to resume sending."

To re-authenticate:

  1. Go to Senders → Sender Profiles → open the affected profile.
  2. Click the settings icon → Social Connections tab.
  3. Click Reconnect on the expired LinkedIn card.
  4. Follow the same steps as the original connection wizard.

When a LinkedIn session expires, any campaigns using the attached sender profile will pause LinkedIn steps until the account is reconnected.

Connecting Multiple LinkedIn Accounts

You can connect multiple LinkedIn accounts to your team — one per seat or real person doing outbound. Each account gets connected separately. They can then be assigned to different sender profiles (one LinkedIn account per profile maximum).

If you try to connect a LinkedIn account that already exists in SuperSend (same email), a "Sender Already Exists" dialog appears. You can restore it from archive or navigate to the existing account.

Expected Result

The LinkedIn account appears in Senders → Social tab with an active status, and is available to attach to sender profiles.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Connection attempt hangs and never completes.

Fix: Refresh and try again. If repeated failures occur, confirm your LinkedIn credentials are correct and that the account is not temporarily locked.

  • Issue: You're stuck at mobile verification but don't have the LinkedIn app.

Fix: Go back in the wizard and re-attempt. LinkedIn will often fall back to email verification on a second attempt.

  • Issue: "Account already exists" modal appears but the account is not visible in your Senders.

Fix: It may be archived. Use the restore option in the modal.

  • Issue: LinkedIn steps in campaigns aren't running after reconnecting.

Fix: Confirm the reconnected account is still attached to the sender profile (Social Connections tab in profile settings). Reconnecting does not automatically re-attach it.
