How to Generate an IMAP Password for Gmail

If you're integrating Gmail with SuperSend.io and need to connect via IMAP, you'll need to generate an App Password from your Google Account. Follow these steps to create your IMAP password securely.

Step 1: Enable IMAP in Gmail

Before you generate an App Password, ensure IMAP is enabled in your Gmail settings:

Go to Gmail.
Click the gear icon (⚙) in the top-right and select See all settings.
Navigate to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Under the IMAP access section, select Enable IMAP.
Click Save Changes.

Step 2: Enable 2-Step Verification

Google requires 2-Step Verification to be enabled before you can create an App Password.

Go to your Google Account Security page: https://myaccount.google.com/security
Scroll down to "How you sign in to Google" and find 2-Step Verification.
Click Get Started and follow the instructions to enable 2-Step Verification.

Step 3: Generate an App Password

Once 2-Step Verification is enabled, you can generate your App Password for IMAP access:

Go to the App Passwords page: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
Sign in if prompted.
Under Select app, choose Mail.
Under Select device, choose Other (Custom name) and enter a name like IMAP for Gmail.
Click Generate.
Copy the 16-character App Password displayed on the screen (it won’t be shown again).

Step 4: Use the App Password in SuperSend.io

Now, when setting up your Gmail IMAP integration in SuperSend.io, use:

- Email Address: Your full Gmail address (e.g., yourname@gmail.com).
- Username: Your full Gmail address.
- Password: The 16-character App Password (not your regular Gmail password).
- IMAP Server: imap.gmail.com
- Port: 993
- SSL/TLS: Enabled

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues:
- Ensure 2-Step Verification is enabled.
- Make sure IMAP is enabled in Gmail settings.
- Double-check that you're using the App Password (not your regular Gmail password).
- Restart your email client and try again.
